Matt's background in public speaking is varied. His first
public utterances were captured by Channel 7 while still in the hospital
following his accident.
However his involvement in the documentary Seize the Day filmed during
the 1994 Sydney to Hobart yacht race was the inspiration to undertake tertiary
studies.
In early 1994 he enrolled as a mature age student studying a Bachelor of Arts
Communication degree majoring in Film and Video production.
He also became an announcer on 2SER while at the University of Technology in
Sydney.
Since then in his capacity as head of various disabled
organisations Matt has undertaken a variety of media commitments including TV,
radio and press interviews and keynote speeches at various functions.
Currently Matt is President of Sailability, an organisation
dedicated to providing access to disabled people to experience sailing.
Recent engagements include speaking at a dinner for
the Commonwealth Bank in Hobart, radio interviews with ABC Hobart, TV interviews
with WIN Television Hobart, a Sandy Bay Rotary Club dinner, gest speaker at a
